In order to help customers reduce the cost of cylinder repair, the Cylinder Express service has been designed to offer a whole range of options including:

  • Reseal - with testing as standard
  • Light honing - correcting damage, increasing seal life and performance
  • Oversized honing - bringing cylinder tubes back to specification, using oversized seals
  • Re-tube - cost effective repair using the Cat certified process
  • Re-rod - highest quality repair in the UK following the Cat certified process and utilising induction hardened rod stock as standard
  • Bore welding of Cylinder eyes - Building up and boring cylinder and rod eyes to their original specification

This is why Finning has developed its honing service to remove even the smallest of imperfections that could accelerate seal wear life, reduce machine productivity, and lead to unplanned machine downtime.

Cylinder groups assembled at Cylinder Express can be honed to ensure you benefit from longer seal life, less downtime and increased performance.

Testing is an essential part of the Cylinder Express service, which sets us apart from other cylinder repair service providers. At Finning we recognise that failure to find potential faults, ultimately leads to additional customer downtime and in the worst scenario expensive machine damage.

This is why we perform an extensive pressure test on all cylinders before they leave the facility. Using state of the art equipment, each reassembled cylinder component is inspected then pressure tested and certified clean using 'live oil' particle count measuring equipment.
