Ground Engaging Tools have two main functions on a machine, protection and productivity. Caterpillar’s new range of wear protection products are designed to offer added protection in abrasive applications.
The new range consists of four distinctive designs to offer complete, customisable protection. This optimal level of protection results in less downtime and reduced operating cost. Each product consists of a chrome white iron top layer which has a minimum hardness of Rockwell C 60. Through a copper-bronzing process this is bonded to a mild steel backing plate which provides impact absorption and allows the product to be easily welded.
The wide variety of product designs and sizes allow for maximum wear protection in virtually any type of environment or application. This is not just restricted to earthmoving equipment, conveyor chute liners and crusher liners are other applications in which this product can extend life and lower cost.
