The K-Series tooth system from Finning

The K-Series Tooth System From FinningThe new K-series tooth system, available through Finning, has been introduced to the UK market for use on Caterpillar buckets. The tooth system is designed to reduce downtime and improve digging performance.

The K-series is available with 11 tip options including penetration plus, general duty, extra duty, penetration, wide, double spike, spike, heavy penetration, and heavy abrasion plus 2 ARM versions.

The K-series provides increased tip life of up to 15% when compared to previous ground engaging tools (GET), with better penetration and sharpness maintained for much longer. In addition, tips can be changed in approximately half the time it takes to change other styles.

The unique "twist-on" procedure makes the installation process much quicker and easier than was previously possible. The new system enables the tip to grip the adapter tighter the harder it digs into the tough materials, reducing tip vibration, movement and loosening.

The tips are installed with a slight twist and secured with a one-piece retainer assembly that slips vertically into the tooth, rather than being hammered into the sides. All that is needed to remove or install the drive-through retainer is a very low force behind some common tools. The tips for larger wheel loaders and hydraulic excavators feature a hammerless retainer that can be removed with a prying tool. From a health & safety perspective there is a reduced opportunity for the person changing the tips to have an accident when compared to previous systems. The unique ‘twist-on’ procedure is easy and involves much less effort; reducing the risk of injuries such as muscle strains.
